The INjected Smoke and PYRocumulonimbus Experiment (INSPYRE) field campaign is a multi-year NASA Earth Venture activity. In 2026, coordinated flights between the NASA ER-2 and NSF/NCAR GV airborne platforms will be coupled with ground-based and spaceborne measurements to study wildfire size and intensity and, in particular, pyroCb development and evolution. The ER-2 flights, from late July to early September, are based out of the Montana Air National Guard base in Great Falls, MT.
CPL Data from INSPYRE 2026
NOTE: The data from INSPYRE is preliminary. The images are available but we will not post the actual processed data files until post-mission when final calibrations, etc., are completed. Until this notice disappears from this page, the data is not yet final-processed and publicly available.
NOTICE: Access to CPL data is not restricted. However, we do ask that everyone read and abide by the CPL data usage policy found here: CPL data usage policy. In addition, please bear in mind that satellite teams have their own data usage policies, and they should be contacted before use or publication of validation data.
